Flying mini robots clean up

A new robot cleaning system was just one of many innovations at Design Lab 2013
Electrolux has just announced the winner of its innovative Design Lab competition in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. Held annually in a bid to find budding new inventors from around the globe, the competition has been running since 2003. This year, the first prize went to Adrian Perez Zapata from Colombia for his quirky and highly imaginative Mab robot house cleaning concept.

Second prize went to Atomium by Luiza Silva from Brazil, which allows the 3D printing of food while the Breathing Wall concept by Jeabyun Yeon from Korea took the third place spot. Other finalists this year included Janne Palovuori, from Finland for Nutrima, Franciso Barboza Grasa from Spain for the Kitchen Hub, Germain Verbrackel rom France for 3F, Global Chef by David Dawod from Sweden and OZ-1 by Wei Kat Law, from Singapore
So, let’s take a whistle-stop tour of what’s been on offer this year and also take a look back over previous years. We've got some personal favourites – have you?
