Prairie Dog

These charismatic, rabbit-size rodents live on North America's prairies and open grasslands in only a fraction of their former numbers.

Prairie dogs live in underground burrows, extensive warrens of tunnels and chambers marked by many mounds of packed earth at their surface entrances. Burrows have defined nurseries, sleeping quarters, and even toilets. They also feature listening posts near exits, so animals can safely keep tabs on the movements of predators outside. Prairie dogs spend a lot of time building and rebuilding these dwellings. Other animals benefit from their labors. Burrows may be shared by snakes, burrowing owls, and even rare black-footed ferrets, which hunt prairie dogs in their own dwellings.

Family groups (a male, a few females, and their young) inhabit burrows and cooperate to share food, chase off other prairie dogs, and groom one another. These group members even greet one another with a prairie dog kiss or nuzzle. Young pups are very playful and can often been seen romping near their burrows.

Black-tailed prairie dogs, the best known of the five prairie dog species, live in larger communities called towns, which may contain many hundreds of animals. Typically they cover less than half a square mile (1.3 square kilometers), but some have been enormous. The largest recorded prairie dog town covered some 25,000 square miles (65,000 square kilometers). That Texas town was home to perhaps four hundred million prairie dogs.

Another prairie dog species, the white-tailed prairie dog, lives in the western mountains. These rodents do not gather in large towns but maintain more scattered burrows. All species hunker down in winter and burn the reserves of fat they have stored during more plentiful seasons. White-tails may hibernate for up to six months on their mountain plains, while their black-tailed cousins sometimes emerge to feed on especially warm days.

These large squirrels emerge from their burrows in daylight to forage and feed on grasses, roots, and seeds. They communicate with loud cries. A warning cry, for example, will send a town's denizens hustling to their holes at the approach of a badger, coyote, or other predator. A second, "all-clear" call alerts the community when the danger has passed.

Much of the Great Plains has been converted to farming or pastureland, and prairie dogs are not often welcome in such places. Because of their destructive landscaping, they are often killed as pests. During the 20th century, about 98 percent of all prairie dogs were exterminated, and their range has shrunk to perhaps five percent of its historic spread.

McLaren P1 Night Glow by GSC

McLaren P1 Night Glow by GSC

Don’t you wish your ride was hot like this? I bet! So, feel free to drool at German aftermarket specialist GSC’s latest project, their program for the McLaren P1 – Night Glow. No one was expecting an aftermarket program for the P1 anytime soon, but since it’s here already let’s take a look at what’s been going on inside the GSC garage – better yet, what we wish we’d find in ours.
The GSC McLaren P1 Night Glow blew your mind away, I know; it did that with the aid of its new body kit, although the power increase is not to be ignored. The GSC aerodynamic package for the McLaren P1 includes a new front spoiler blade, side blades, a re-designed front apron with integrated LED daytime running lights, an adjustable rear wing, a roof scoop, side skirts, and a rear diffuser complete with side walls. Not to shabby, right?!
This McLaren looks like one of those vehicles you’d ride while racing with your buddy inside the NFS game. Speaking of, the McLaren P1 Night Glow also received a bespoke exhaust system with two round tail pipes measuring 100 mm in diameter.
I’d pay to hear that engine roar, since this McLaren is one powerful ride: it features an output of 1,000 hp, as opposed to the standard 916PS (903 bhp). GSC hasn’t announced what this baby would cost you – as if you could afford it – but one thing’s for sure: this McLaren P1 is off the hook!

Love makes you Strong ...

Love makes you Strong ...

Love makes you Strong in front of the whole world, But Weak in front of the one you love..

LOVE is not to say, But to understand..

LOVE is not to show, But to feel inside..
LOVE is not to find faults, But to make the best..
LOVE is not to demand, But to sacrifice..
LOVE is not to hurt, But to take care of..
LOVE is not blind, But it doesn't need to see..

Motorola's Moto X

Motorola first announced the Moto X in August 2013, but at the time it was US-only device. Now the phone is winging its way to Europe to take its rightful place above the £135 Moto Gin Motorola's product range.

Prices start at £380 for the SIM-free model and at £25 per month on contract. The phone won't hit shop shelves in the UK for a few weeks yet, but Wired.co.uk has been hands-on with the Moto X ahead of its 1 February release.

Sony Unveils The Cheerful Xperia E1

It always feels like a treat to see new products landing amid the tumbleweed that otherwise blows across the tech landscape between the Consumer Electronics Show at the beginning of January and Mobile World Congress at the end of February. Thanks then to Sony, for giving us not one, but two new phones to get excited about -- and even better news, they're both coming to the UK.
The first of the two phones is the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra, and it's a biggy -- phablet-sized in fact. With a 6-inch 720p display, 1.4GHz quad-core processor and only 1GB of Ram, this beast isn't likely to blow you away in the same way the bigger and more powerful Xperia Z Ultra will, but then it does look like a great compromise if the Z Ultra is just that bit too big and pricey for you. Powering it will be a 3,000mAh battery, which should give around a day of battery life with careful use.
The second of Sony's two new phones is the budget Xperia E1. It has a similar look to Sony's other recent smartphones, but with softer, more rounded corners. With a 4-inch display, it's diddy by today's standards, and its specs aren't exactly impressive.
With a 480x800-pixel resolution, the screen on this handset isn't going to be ideal for those who like to watch videos, play games and mess around with image editing. Neither will you get the most demanding tasks in any kind of hurry, as the E1 is not equipped with 4G. Inside is 512MB of Ram, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a paltry 4GB of internal storage.
With the Moto G including a quad-core processor as part of its £135 package, our expectations of what a budget cheaper Android phone should offer have shifted recently. Nevertheless, the Xperia Z1 is a smart little phone, and if the price is right, it might prove a good option for those after a smaller and more basic Android device.
When the phone goes on sale it will be available in black, white and purple, although pricing and availability have not yet been announced.
