Deborah Lippmann Mouths Off

When it comes to fashion-forward nails, Deborah Lippmann is as trusted a runway resource as there is. This, after all, is the woman who introduced the world to chunky-glitter polishes long before they became a lacquer lover’s mainstay (it was at Rodarte’s Fall 2013 show, and it was called Marquis Moon, a thick silver varnish with different-sized pieces of hexagonal sequins). Lippmann is so on top of the trends that she helped usher in Spring’s matching lips-and-tips moment, pairing makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury’s burnt burgundy mouths at Donna Karan with two coats of her ultra-luxe Just Walk Away Renee, a deep bordeaux polish. It should come as no surprise, then, that the first of Lippmann’s many holiday offerings heralds her grand entrée into the makeup market with two matching lip-and-nail duos. “It was important for me to create a lipstick that was creamy, shiny, and easy to use—just like my polishes,” Lippmann says of Love Notes, a pomegranate-hued sheer red lipstick called Let’s Do It that has been packaged with the opaque My Old Flame lacquer, and My Touch, My Kiss, a nude offering that teams I’m Every Woman, a sheer mauve-neutral pout perfector, with Naked, Lippmann’s best-selling crème-finish beige polish. Primping for an evening out just got a little easier.
